How I Went From Geek To…

As a young lad in elementary and junior high
school, I was a total geek.
I wore those thick coke bottle glasses with
black frames, and as a result, I became
affectionately known as “four-eyes”.
In gym class, I was always the last guy to be
chosen cause no one wanted me on their team.
As you can imagine, I never fit in with the
“popular” crowd in school.
In fact, I was an extremely shy kid who kept
to myself most of the time.
But…

What if there were a system designed with stay at
home moms in mind, and I could guarantee the specific
number of dollars that would appear in your bank
account in a specific period of time as the result of
using it? What if I was even willing to put my munee
where my mouth is and let you Take It For F-R-E-E?

In 1982, right before I entered the 11th grade,
I turned it all around!
My story was a lot like that movie “Can’t Buy
Me Love”, which also had a great ending.
At the end of my 10th grade year, after my
father passed away, my mom decided that she
wanted to send me and my younger brother Kyle,
to a private school.
How she afforded this I’ll never know, but to
say she sacrificed in order to make it happen,
would be a major understatement.
I capitalized on the fact that I’d be finding
myself in new surroundings, and decided to make
some major changes before attending this new
school.
For starters, I ditched the glasses, in exchange
for contact lenses, which I paid for myself.
In essence, I created a new image for myself,
and while my outward appearance didn’t really
change much, I made some major changes to the way
I perceived myself on the inside.
To make a long story short, I had more fun in my
last two years of high school than I ever would
have imagined.
I went on countless dates with some of the most
beautiful women in the school. In fact, I even
escorted TWO women to my senior prom.
I went to the high school basketball tryouts and
earned myself the position of forward on the team,
and with a little one-on-one help from the coach,
I became a very accomplished ball player.
No longer was I the shy, introverted and timid kid
that I used to be.
I became the friendly, outgoing and outspoken guy
that everyone liked being around.
So, how does this geeky little kid make such a
transformation?
I’ll tell you how!
Once I made a decision to change my inner perception,
my outer world had no option but to follow suit.
Sure, I had a little help, in the fact that my mom
decided to send me to a different school.
But that’s just location.
I was the one that made a conscious decision to
change my lot in life.
In fact...
The lessons I learned from this teenage experiment
have served me well for the last 25 years.
You see, at the ripe old age of 15, I discovered
that I’m in complete control of my life and my
surroundings.
Anytime I want a situation to change in my outer
world, all I have to do is change my inner
perception.
And every time I do, I ALWAYS get the results I
want.
When it comes to business, I use this technique
on a regular basis.
For example, last year I made the decision that
it was time to sell my cleaning and restoration
business.
It was a Sunday afternoon and I was speaking with
a good friend on the phone. By the end of our
conversation, I’d let him know that I was going
to sell the business so I could take advantage of
other opportunities that would soon be available
to me.
Now keep in mind…
I’d NEVER sold a business before.
In fact, I didn’t have a clue what I was doing.
All I knew was that I’d made up my mind to sell
the cleaning and restoration business.
So get this…
Two days later I get a call out of the blue.
It was a business broker who was inquiring if I’d
be interested in selling my business.
Imagine that!
Apparently he had a client who lived in California.
And this guy wanted to buy a business in the
Seattle area.
To make a long story short, I agreed to meet with
the broker and his client.
Within 57 days, the business was sold.
Now…
You might be thinking to yourself, “That was just
a coincidence”, and if that’s the case, you’re
wrong.
I’ve had countless experiences over the years,
just like this. So many, that I could easily write
a book on the topic.
The fact is, once you’ve made a firm decision, and
you know in your heart that it’s the right thing
to do, you’ll be amazed how easily everything falls
into place for you.
I’ve spoken with many clients who’d tried and
failed in their attempts to run a profitable home
business, but once they quit trying, and made the
decision to do whatever needed to be done (and
knew that it was the right thing to do), everything
came together.
