What’s Your Excuse
By Automatic Income Expert: Kevin Thompson
As I write this, I just got through doing a
phone consultation with a client, but let me
assure you, this was no ordinary client.
And this was no ordinary phone consultation.
Since this particular client is unable to hear,
the use of a TTY (Tele Type Writer) is required
in order for us to communicate.
Here’s how it works:
When a hearing impaired person needs to speak
on the phone, it requires not only the use of a
TTY machine, but an operator as well.
The hearing impaired person contacts the operator
with the aid of their TTY machine.
The operator then makes contact with the third
party, which in this case was me.
When I answer the phone, the operator informs me
of the situation, and what’s required of me in
order to speak with my client.
Fortunately for me, I have another friend who’s
hearing impaired, so I’ve had previous experience
communicating in this manner.
In order for the hearing impaired person to
communicate, they must type all their words into
the TTY.
This dialog is then forwarded to the operator, who
then reads the conversation to me.
I then must speak back to the operator, clearly
and a little slower than normal, so she can type
all my words into the TTY and forward them to my
client.
As a result, it takes about 3-4 times as long to
have a conversation.
Now…
You’re probably wondering why I’m telling you all
this.
The answer is quite simple.
After I finished this particular consultation
(which took about 25 minutes), I was amazed at the
progress we’d made.
My client was really excited about the strategies
we’d discussed for her Automatic Income project and
is getting ready to take things to the next level.
As soon as I hung up the phone, I realized just how
committed this person is to her goals.
Think about it for a minute.
Much of the information I provide my clients is in
audio format, which means that she isn’t able to
have regular access to this information like
everyone else does.
No siree!
In order to have access to the recorded information,
she’s gotta go to the added trouble and expense to
have everything transcribed.
And the monthly Automatic Income Coaching Calls?
She can’t really participate on those either.
Once again, in order for her to make use of the
information, she’s got to have them transcribed.
I guess it’s a pretty good thing that I record all
the calls for my clients.
But here’s what’s important to note:
Look at all the effort this client has to bring to
the table.
She has to do a lot of extra things that folks like
you and I take for granted.
On the other hand, other folks will sit around,
whinin-n-moanin about why it won’t work for them,
or why they don’t have what it takes, or how
handicapped they are.
Truth be told, I did a little bit of this myself
(in my younger days).
But let’s be honest here…
If this woman can accomplish what she’s done while
being hearing impaired, you and I don’t really
have any excuses for achieving our own dreams and
goals.
So you gotta ask yourself, “What’s my excuse”?
And when you put things in proper perspective,
you’ll realize that you ain’t got any valid
excuses.
Sure, you can sit around whinin-n-moanin,
complaining about your lot in life, or you can take
control of the situation and make the decision to
do something about it.
My suggestion…
Do something about it!
And the faster, the better.
